2013 Yale Invitational
December 9, 2013
New Haven, Connecticut

Last weekend the entire UW Program flew out to New Haven, Connecticut in order to compete at the 2013 Yale Invitational.  With terrible winter weather and flight cancellations, it was an incredibly stressful trip.  However once the Huskies got to New Haven, they were rewarded by getting the chance to compete against some of the best teams in the nation!  The Yale Invitational gave both UW teams a great opportunity to gain valuable trial experience against very competitive teams.

UW Purple Team started the tournament with a tough round against Hamline University, but they were able to bounce back in their second round against Princeton and take all three ballots.  After splitting rounds with MSU and Wellesley, the team ended with a record of 5-7.  UW Gold Team started the tournament strong, winning two ballots against the tournament champion – Tufts University.  After that, Gold Team struggled in two competitive rounds against Hamilton College and NYU.  Fortunately, they were able to split the last round with the University of Maryland and finish with a record of 4-1-7. Congratulations to Kyle Tong and Rio Frazier for winning outstanding witness awards at this highly competitive tournament!

Next on the agenda for the Huskies is the task of stacking their teams into two competitive A and B teams.  After that, they’ll hit the road again in January – the A Team will compete in UCLA’s U Classic as well as Vanderbilt’s Commodore Classic, while the B Team will head down to Berkeley to compete in the Lee Allen Memorial Tournament!
